DIY : A simple & poetic advent calendar
Supermarkets released toys and chocolates, Virgile sings « Jingle Bells » while returning from school, which offers us to order a tree – I can hear Christmas quickly approaching.
This year, I want a homemade Christmas with simple materials and geometric patterns, which bases can be reused once December is passed. And to start my Christmas decoration, I prepared a DIY Advent calendar for my boys, it’s simple to do but airy and poetic. It’s a tree branch on hanging blooming colored sweets that make you want to pick them. Would you like to make it too?
To make your advent calendar, you need:
24 small surprises
IKEA SITTNING paper napkins in yellow/grey, pink/grey and grey patterned

nylon thread
a roll of masking tape
packing paper
support for suspending, I used an arbutus tree branch from my garden
an A4 sheet of self-adhesive sticker paper for printer
template of stickers numbers to count down the days until Christmas downloadable here :
How to do?
Download the template, print your sticker sheet and cut them
pack 24 gifts in wrapping paper that you roll into a ball
wrap each ball in a paper napkin and tighten it with the masking-tape, attach a length of nylon thread to it
don’t forget to place a sticker on each surprise
hang your balls to your branch – and voila, your own Advent calendar made with love, a few bucks and little time!
It only remains to decorate your home to greet the long bearded gentleman in red coat.
